Denim, Denim, Denim

Hey BB's,
Have you ever seen someone wearing a pair of pants that you loved, so you track down what store they came from and go try them on. You look in the mirror disappointed because you now HATE that pair of pants you were absolutely in love with, because they make it look like you have the butt of a 12 year old boy. Yeah me too girl... I think all of us have had one of those moments to be honest! Pants are #1 the hardest thing to shop for if you're a girl. Every brand sizes run differently, and the cuts/where the waist lies is never the same either. I remember when I was going through puberty I hated going shopping with my friends because I had bigger thighs and my body had not grown into them yet. I would watch them try on these adorable skinny jeans and I would not because *cue Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants, Carmen "You think a pair of pants that fits all three of you is going to fit.... (slaps hips) all this...!!!" I talked to my mom about my insecurities and she let me in on a few secrets about pants that I am going to share with you.
POCKETS
First the shape of your back pocket can be a game changer to how it makes your butt look. Typically the bigger the pocket the flatter and smaller your but is going to look, but if the two pockets are too close to the middle seam line and small it will make you look like you have a mile wide behind. Try to find a pair of pants that are proportional to your backside, taking about 1/4-1/2 the space size per side of your pants. If the pants you like don't have any pockets, when you look in the mirror make sure they lay flat and don't bunch or crease under the curve of your backside.
FRONT ZIPPER
Not too long ago I saw a pair of the cutest jeans with hearts sewn all over the front on instagram. I went to the boutique that carried them and tried them on. The front zipper was so long it hung a good 2 inches away from where your pants are supposed to stop. It created an elongated baggy look in an area that I did not want that to happen in. Serious disappointment. Believe it or not this area fitting the right way affects the way your pants look in the front and in the back. If the zipper is too long like on the pair I tried on it makes a creased baggy look from the center all the way out to the thighs and from the front through the middle to the back. Make sure to take a full 360 look in the mirror so you can see all the details.
FINDING A GOOD BRAND
If you find a brand of jeans that fits you and look good, that means that no matter the style of jean they sell the fit should be the same. The only time sizing in brands is different in the waist is if they are high waisted or not. I personally like high waisted jeans because I have longer legs and a short torso. I look for high waisted jeans that stop right below my belly button and don't go over it. If your pants cover over your hip bones and above your belly button it can make you look wider instead of smaller.
Hopefully some of these tips will come in handy the next time you go shopping. If you order jean's or any pants online just remember you can always return them if they don't fit.
Happy shopping loves!
